Abstract
Since 1989, the United States has been forcing its neo-liberal model onto Eastern Europe. Profits are privatised, losses socialised. The United States first and foremost profits from this. But it is precisely in America that the failure of the neo-liberal project is seen. This was revealed by the global financial crisis: United States as a global power is on the brink of decline. Europe is at the crossroads. It has to decide whether it will immerse itself in predatory capitalism or preserve its social state and with it the crowning point of its civilisation.
