The End of Apathy
Russia’s Protest Movement

Abstract

Russian society has awakened. Since December 2011, after two decades of stale-mate, political man is once again back on the stage. The efficient manager – the iconic figure of the Putin decade – is on the defensive. An eminently political art of protest that touches on the historical traumas of post-Soviet society is replacing post-Soviet melancholy. The state is responding all the harder.
