Abstract
The BASF subsidiary Wintershall was crucial to Gazprom’s success on the German gas market. Partner Wintershall performed loyal services not only in increasing Gazprom’s market share, but also in guaranteeing the success of the Baltic pipeline. Furthermore, cooperation with Wintershall has shaped Gazprom’s image as a reliable partner in Germany. However, for Gazprom, the partnership is now diminishing in value.
