Orbánism in Hungary
Origins and Elements of “Illiberal Democracy”
Deutsche Fassung
Abstract
Viktor Orbán’s autocratic government is the result of a political malformation that has persisted since 1989 and preserved many bad traditions in Hungarian history. Even if Orbán is right in some of his allegations directed at the European Union, most of the responsibility for discrediting the constitutional state and the free market economy in Hungary lies with him and his party Fidesz.
