Adolescence, War, Trauma
The Art of Szapocznikow, Wajda, and Wróblewski

Anda Rottenberg

Deutsche Fassung

The Second World War left a deep mark on the life and work of the three Polish artists Alina Szapocznikow, Andrzej Wróblewski, and Andrzej Wajda. The sculptor, the painter, and the film director were young adults during the war era. Each of them treated the atrocities that accompanied the war, violence, and mass annihilation differently. At the same time, one can see parallels and mutual influences. These are based not only on personal encounters, but are also the result of the unifying experience of mass death and injustice.
