Andrei Platonov and the cinema

Abstract

Although Andrei Platonov also wrote film scripts, only one of them was actually made into a film. Further silent and talking films based on Platonov’s prose were not created until after his death. The Platonov style follows the rules of poetry. In the films, it was not the word itself that was the most important factor, but the language of imagery. The atmosphere of Platonov’s texts is reflected in the image composition and the music.
