Abstract
Sanctions are as old as conflicts between political entities. States have often imposed blockades and embargoes on other states. More recently, sanctions have been used to limit trade in goods and services and to restrict personal fi-nance and travel. In international relations, sanctions have become an important tool for states and international organizations. But they also raise numerous prob-lems for the international legal order in the globalized world. The legal regulation of sanction regimes is only getting started.
