Abstract
Russia is transforming the Ukrainian territories it has occupied and annexed into constituent parts of its own political, military, economic, and ideological regime. In order to Russify the population, the occupation authorities are drawing on Soviet methods. Occupation practices reflect the character of Putin’s regime inside Russia. On the one hand, people are adapting to the occupation regime. On the other hand, some continue to resist. This shows that opportunities for disobedience still exist.
